Bloodstained Ritual of the Night Hitting Android and iPhone Soon
Bloodstained Ritual of the Night is one of those newer games that keeps the retro flame alive. Previously only available on consoles and PC’s, mobile fans can soon prepare to take on this challenge. NetEase Games and ArtPlay are co-developing a version of the classic stylized 2D sidescrolling action game for Android and iPhone.
Bloodstained was nostalgic from the beginning
If you missed out on Bloodstained and are lost, do not worry. Produced by Koji Igarashi, of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night fame, this title was in great hands from the start. While Konami has all but given up on reviving older franchises, that has not stopped others from paying homage.
Character upgrades and such are handled via finding shards as you play. This gives Bloodstained a rather nice action role-playing game (ARPG) feel – something most 2D side scrolling games do not feature. This means you will encounter areas that are inaccessible till you find the right powers later. Some may not like this style of game design. If done right, I think it can be entertaining and fun.
Bringing the console game to mobile
NetEase Games and ArtPlay promise that the mobile version of Bloodstained will be quite faithful to the console version. Konami did this, with a few minor updates, with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night awhile ago (iPhone version). I know, I am just as dumbfounded as you are that Konami improved it versus a straight port.
They are not resting with just a straight port though. The user interface will have quite a bit of revision work done. Also, the shard system will be modified to make the mobile experience better.
The Android and iPhone version of Bloodstained will feature all the downloadable content (DLC) released so far. This is quite a bit of content and possibly the definitive version to grab.
