Castlevania Symphony of the Night Sees Sale on Android
Castlevania Symphony of the Night is currently on sale on Google Play. I have no idea how long this sale is going to go so, if you have $1 go grab it. Yep, Konami has one of the best entries in the Castlevania franchise available for $1 right now. There are some upgrades that make this version worth it too. I mean, outside the fact that it is a great game already.
First of a new direction
Like it or not, Castlevania Symphony of the Night represents a new direction for the franchise. It is also one of the better examples, even in the Castlevania franchise, to show off that genre.
For a buck you can get it on your Android phone. That is a hard to turn down proposition.
Why Castlevania Symphony of the Night rocks
Castlevania is one of those franchises that attempted 3D and failed. After attempting the third dimension Konami went back to what worked. 2D, side scrolling, classic action from previous entries.
That puts Castlevania Symphony of the Night in the same category as Bubsy. That was another 2D game that attempted 3D but failed and went back to 2D.
Ahem, back to Symphony of the Night.
The levels are immense, areas are closed off till you can take on the challenges, and more. Konami was in rare form here.
Improvements for Android
Konami did not just slap an onscreen controller on this and call it a day. I know, I am as surprised as you are here.
First up, there is a new continue feature. There are achievements for key milestones being reached. Symphony of the Night is fully compatible with controllers as well. Finally, there are six languages available – English, Japanese, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. Remember the days of having to wait for a localization? I know this is a couple decade old game, but it is nice to have such varied languages supported now.
