Prizefighters 2 Makes Android Early Access Landing
Prizefighters 2 is now available on Android via ‘early access’. Do not worry if you are not familiar with this title. I only learned about it while preparing this article myself. It seems the first game was decently successful, enough that we are getting this sequel. What we seem to have here is a slightly more advanced version of Nintendo’s classic NES game, Punchout. I am completely fine with this.
Prizefighters 2 knows genre heritage
Seriously though, Koality Game seem to frolic in this as well. While we do not get oversized impossible opponents, we do see some good boxing action. At its heart, that is what we got with Nintendo’s take on the sport. Without that good base gameplay you cannot have a good game.
The point of view will be familiar to anyone that has played a video game boxing game not made by Sega. We see our enemy across the ring, at the top of the screen, and we see the back of our character.
Pixelized graphics bring home that retro feel
Everything has a certain pixelated look to it in Prizefighters 2. Most notably the characters we play as and fight against. This art style works well with boxing for some reason – it helps hide the brutality of the sport while still being visually intriguing.
Basically, do not come into Prizefighters 2 thinking you are going to get a realistic simulation. This is purely action based from the get-go.
There are two versions
I do want to point out that there are two versions of Prizefighters 2 available.
The free version:
Over 20 fighters
While the premium version features the free version stuff plus:
Full customization options
Import/Export custom leagues
Multiple save slots for Career Mode
Want to give Prizefighters 2 a go? You can grab it on Google Play via Early Access. Please note that it may not be compatible with your device as it seems restrictive in this regard.
